i dont think the chip will do anything to the truck but give you better gas mileage and a little hp gain, but nothing to the life of the motor. i am putting one on my 98 4 banger but i am also putting a small turbo. i already have a duramax single chamber muffler on it and a k&n on it. it will be bad when it is done.

I have a 93 ranger with a 4.0 V6 that is undergoing conversion to a full race truck. I used to race it quite often with the V6 and I had a Jett chip among other things and it definitely picked up in performance, however, about a year after installing the chip the computer basically had a meltdown.
I took it to a friends shop and they said it was caused by the chip.
Just something to think about.
