Hello all,
I've just joined your group as I have recently aquired a '95
Contour SE with the 2.5 V-6, 5-speed, moonroof, 4-wheel ABS, Traction
controll and full leather. It's a nice driving car though it has been
bought from a good friend with 145,000 miles on it to be used as a
work car for my fiance.
Here's my problem. At cold idle the engine is rough idling. I got a
check-engine light and read it as the "Air Idle Controll Solenoid
circuit". I installed a new $60 solenoid and reset the computer but
still have this problem. I'm guessing it's something sensor related
where the computer is getting a wrong reading and is not operating
the solenoid properly or not timing the ignition properly.
If anyone has had this issue please let me know as I'd like to
refrain from having to bite the big one and have Ford hook it to
their cpu to check all the sensors.
For a bit of my background.. Along with the Contour I've got 2
Ford Escort ZX-2s in the driveway one of them goes auto-cross racing
during the summer months. These both have the 2.0 Zetec in them and
I've done a lot of mods to the racer and ocasional repairs to both.
Maybe I can eventually be of assistance to one of you Contour owners
with the 2.0 Zetec as it's the same powerplant.
I also own a restored '78 F-150 Ranger XLT that hides out in the
garage under it's cover for the most part.
I'm an industrial maintenance technition myself from Wisconsin.
When i'm not working on my cars I have the low-stress job of keeping
$million+ machines maintained and in operation!
Any help on the Contour would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks- Nick M.
