Picked up the engine last week from the salvage yard.Heard I'd need the GT mass airflow sensor, wiring harness and computer to make it all run properly once the new engine's installed.Picked up the mass air flow sensor plus the section of intake that clamps to the engine's intake.I also pulled the Mustang's computer box.Cost me only $65 for everthing.I was gonna replace the engine wiring harness with a new after market one from Summit,Jeg's or somewhere. Then I talked to a local mechanic who owns a nice shop and a '94 Mustang GT.He says the stock intake system and computer from my 5.0 T-bird engine will allow the new engine to run fine with all 225 h.p. available from the new engine WITHOUT all that other stuff I just bought. So what's the word on this?Do I take back the parts I bought today, re-wire the engine bay to accomadate the mass air flow ,and use the new computer? Any experienced help with this is appreciated.I really love the '87 T- bird, and want to make it look and run better than ever, but this stuff is confusing! later....Steve Smith

ok Steve. Your mechanic is correct. All the items you mentioned will work on the salvedge yard motor. Just make sure that the upper intake, throttle body, and MAF are all the same. I am not to sure what the upper intake looks like on and '87 Tbird. I hope they are the same. If not and you have to put the stuff you bought from the salvedge yard on the motor then you may have to use the computer and the other stuff. If everything is the same, then you can take the items back and get you'r money back. For all practical purposes, I would check out under the hood of my car and compare. I know the '95 motor is like my '93 Tbird. Wish I knew what the '85 Tbird looked like. If the upper intake doesn't angle toward the radiator, then the '95 motor is different. The area that the throttle body mounts to. If it does then you are ok. If the upper intake points straight to the fender, then you will have to make modifications. I am talking about the motor in the car. The '95 motor upper intake turns toward the radiator. I hope this helps you some. If you could take pictures of the motor in the car I could tell you what you are up against. Good luck!!! -- In fordthunderbirdperformance@yahoogroups.com, "Steve Smith"
