Ok, My cotour has only 17,000 as of today. It is a 96 yes a 96. The other day
the car started to 'stuter' and the check engine light came on. A friend of mine
has a diagnostics machine and we hooked it up and it told us that there was a
miss fire on cylinder 4. We cleared out the code and reset the check light. The
next day I changed the wires and plugs thinking this might take care of the
problem. (its the z tek by the way) It didnt, and the light is back on. We
thought that since the mileage was so low that perhaps some carbon build up had
broke loose and got stuck in one of the injectors so I've been running injector
cleaner in it. It seems to have helped a little but its still acting up. Mostly
when I try to accelerate quickly as to get into traffic from a stop. And of
course the check engine light is still on. I have noticed that if I accelerate
slowly, sometimes it goes beautifully and some times at higher speeds (45-50),
it will stuter when I acceerate. Any ideas before I go pay Ford to much money to
tell me that it has a mis fire in #4???????
