I have a chance to purchase a 1988 T-bird for $650.00. It has a 3.8 liter V-8, automatic. Can't even explain the color, kinda a pearl burgundy....in the light/almost brown at night, its a 2 door with just a little rust around the front passenger wheelwell.....interior is emmaculate, has the digital speedometer, factory stereo.....very good tires.....is this a good buy ?....It does run very nice, but I THINK...either there is an exhaust problem OR it has glass packs..... Just wanted some opinions on this automobile before I decide....tks

so you can buy a car now for $650, than in about 4 years will be a classic. The small rust is easy to fix at a good body shop, and the exhaust is about $300, as long as the headers and cats are good. Spend the $50 to take it to a good mechanic and have it looked over. No old car is perfect, but if you want a classic car and are willing to take on the responsibilty of "raising" one, if it runs your ahead of the game.

what you have here is pretty much a basic t-bird. i have been a t- bird fan for years have had about four myself.they are great cars.but first as long as it runs your ahead of the game. it really doesn't matter if it has the 6 or the 8 cyl. just enjoy the car if you decide to buy.at 650 it's not a bad deal(most will cringe-but i just stripped out an almost complete 88 turbo coupe)
