Hi i have a 1989 f150 supercab and today i pulled the front plate off the flywheel and can see where it is rubbing just wondering how hard it is to change the flywheel if it's something i can do myself or if i should take it to a mechanic?

Its not that hard to change the fly wheel but what is it rubbing and why is the concern.

there should be several bolts attaching it to the torque converter you will need to spin the engine so that they come around to the bottom one at a time. It helps to have two people and have one hold a socket wrench on the harmonic balancer bolt to spin the engine and to hold it from spinning while loosening and tightening the bolts.

If it is manual which would have a fly wheel (vs a flex plate for auto) the flywheel is bolted to the clutch plate that may be spring loaded I can't remember.
