I have a 1993 Escort GT that has recently started to occasionally
fail to start, only after driving a short distance and sitting for
~45 minutes. When this occurs, it cranks, appears to have good
spark, and the fuel injectors are pulsed (noid light flashes), but
the engine cranks for ~5 minutes without starting. The car runs
utterly fine otherwise. I attempted to pull the computer codes via
the paperclip and "Check Engine" light with no luck. Unfortunately,
the fuel rail doesn't have a Shrader valve, so I can't easily check
for fuel pressure. I tend to think that this is a fuel pump problem,
but since the car runs normally, and the pump was replaced 50k miles
ago, I think that it is likely a lack of power to the pump? Where is
the the pump relay? Currently, I plan on changing the fuel filter,
then checking for power at the relay, IF I CAN FIGURE OUT WHERE IT
IS? I have heard that the ignition switch is sometimes a problem on
this model?
Thanks in adavance for any help.
