Just taking a shot here but I think what you mean when you say "loss of horsepower" is loss of acceleration. There are many things that can happen when using bigger wheels or tires. If you get the same aspect ratio tire as the one you are using now the only worry you will have is the added weight. If you use a taller tire you will change the final drive ratio witch *might* cause slower speed in say a 0-60 race. Also with wider tires you will have more drag so top speed will be lower...not that that matters with a speed limiter anyway. There are so many things that can change when plus-sizing your wheels but the good will out weigh the bad. You will have more grip, and beable to cary more speed into a turn. I would say go for it. Hi Doc, I wish I could help you but being new to these vehicles myself I can only wait on the sidelines.............:-) Hope you find your answer. Who is the manufacturer of your conversion?

doc, 15 months ago, with the birth of my 3rd child, and with a need to have my 3 children, my wife, and my mom in a vehicle, I knew it was time to buy a van. I was actually seriously looking to buy a used Toyota Previa at the time, but when I saw this Ford Luxury conversion van with a 4-Sale sign in it, I could pass it up once I saw the tremendous luxury and large interior room inside. I purchased my 1994 Ford E150 Luxury Conversion van 15 months ago for $4700. It currently has 76,000 miles on it. It has a 4.9 Liter Inline 6 cylinder engine with the famous "C-6" 3 speed automatic transmission. It is not a high top van. But it does have light purple velour chairs, velour wall and ceiling covering, curtains, and a rear bench seat which manually folds into a bed. I am very happy with the Ford Van, and I want to try to keep it at least 10 more years (maybe 15 years more if I am lucky)... - Bill
