Hi, here is were it all began. I changed the serpintine belt, hoses, new thermostat and flushed the coolant last month. Since then, when running for awhile with the AC on, the temp gauge gets almost up to the hot zone. It stays within range of normal though. It used to never get above the middle on the normal range. I noticed that the fan does not seem to be going as fast as it should and that sometimes it doesn't run at all? Help Mark

You mean the fan on the motor right? Well your fan maybe going, or you have the wrong theromstat, or wrong temp thermostat, I had the same prob on my 81 LTD and changed the thermostat a little lower (not to much!!) and it worked better. Also you may want to check the type of antifrezz mixture you have, I found the best mixture to be around 45% antifreez and 55% water, or just 50/50 will do the trick. NEVER RUN 100% ANTIFREEZ!! you will hurt your car!. If that doesnt do it then you may have a bad sensor, I suggest check your antifreez first, then thermostat, then your fan. Also check how tight you belt is cause it might be slipping silently. I had that prob on my 78 bronco, kept slipping but silently and I figured it out after changing the darn water pump :~( Gotta run, laterz Blue Steel

Well, I did dilute the coolant, there appears to be no slack in the fan or water pump. Still running hotter than usual. Is the fan supossed to turn all the time when the engine is running. I noticed that sometimes it doesnt spin. Is this normal?

Hmm, I have pics of what you fan should look like, this is off a 85 CV but they're the same, your clutch maybe shot, thats the aluminum part on it, or your front heat spring is gone. I suggest a new one for like $20-30. I dunno how they rang where you live. I've seen a few get away with a flex fan witch will give more cool air to the motor but I dont suggest it!! also I believe on there you have a valve on the driver side exhaust manifold where it meets the exhaust pipe, if that doesn't work then it will over heat. If none of that work then its your heat sensor, I think its on the passenger side exhaust manifold. Blue Steel
