Hello, I recently purchased a 1995 Aerostar XL from a friend. Its a nice van and all but the tranny has got me worried. When you put it in overdrive or any other foward gears the transmission will go 'CLUNK' and the van will shake. It will also do that when shifiting in to gears (such as 1 to 2....etc) I flushed and refilled the transmission and it still does it. Any ideas? I checked the motor mounts and they seemed brand new. Thanks!

The noise is coming from inside of the transmission. It nsounds like a damaged or bent flywheel or a bad torque converter. The transmission also seems to slip when going in to foward gears and shifting slopply. Since its RWD it dosnt' look to hard to remove the transmission. I'll work on it this weekend and see what the diagnosis is.
