New to the forums here. As the truck ages I'll need places to help with working on it. I am mechanically adept so that helps. If I can rebuild a Norton engine and transmission and keep it as my only source of wheels for 4 years I should be able to keep this Ranger running.

I'm going nuts over such a simple problem. I should have been able to do this brake job today in a few hours but.........

So about a year ago the misses drove her Ranger until the squealing finally went away when she applied the brakes. Insert chuckles here. She became irritated when it turned into a grumble/groan and a shaky pedal but not so irritated as to inform me of the problem. Went out one night and almost blew a stop sign in the neighborhood trying to stop the thing. Went home and asked her about this. "Oh it's been like that for a couple of months, you need to stop farther back", says she. The rotors were toasted and there were no front pads, only slivers of the original metal backing plates for the pads remained. Only have some change on hand I replaced the pads with the intent of replacing it all in a month or so. It held well for about a year.

So now while trying to buy rotors it seems there is a ton of options and a ton of misinformation. Could be 260, 281, or 305. ABS, Torsions bars, shocks, springs etc... Seem to all come together in conflict. Just need to get some quality rotors (thinking Brembo slotted) and ceramic pads (Hawk).

What size rotors do I need for this truck and what ABS ring should I be looking for?

2003 Ranger Edge 4x2 3.0 V6

I'm thinking they are the 281mm with ABS ring for trucks with torsion bar as the Edge comes with a torsion bar, but I'd hate to be wrong as so many parts sites say I need rotors for 2wd with all wheel ABS but not the ones for trucks with torsion bars.

Thanks in advance as I've never seen a vehicle with so many options for such a simple piece of equipment. I did try using the search engine first but it failed to produce.
