Hello Group, I just joined and I just recently purchased a 98 Ford Ranger. Its a Flareside. I'm having two problems and I'm hoping someone can help me. On the passenger side the door switch seems to be either stuck or something. Even when the door is closed it doesn't regerister that the door is closed. I get the door is ajar light. And my domelights are on. Today it seemed to go away so I'm thinking it may be a sticky switch???? Or even loose. My father has a 1997 F-150 with the same problem. Neither one of us can figure out what the problem is. Can someone help on that? My second problem is the 3rd brake light. Both on the canopy and the cab. It doesn't work when the brakes are engaged. The other brake lights work. So I'm trying to figure this out. I think the truck may have been used being towed behind an RV. I'm not exactly sure. It had only 43,000 on it when I picked it up right before Christmas. If anyone can help me it would be great. Thank you. Chris

I have the same problem, my door ajar light will stay on for days, and then go out. I hope some one has a clue to this. I have a haynes manual and it does not mention the door switch.

Here are some ideas to try, I had this problem with my old 97 ranger and the wd40 only worked for a short while, the dealer ended up replacing some kind of switching box behind the radio to fix it. http://www.ford-trucks.com/dcforum/ranger/1433.html

Hey thanks for the great info! I'm going to try and see if some of the ideas on there work. It seems that it only does it in high humidity if not when its raining. So I hope its the same problem. At least I know its not just me here! Chris
