what they said is half true half false. a 3.8 from the same year
would drop right in "just" change the motor. v8's and other moters,
including a newer model v6 which would need other things
transplanted in too. Which is a pain sometimes. (or some $$$)
I wouldn't repair it. I repaired a spun rod bearing out of my 85
chevy caprice and 20 miles later three more were gone. The bad ones
distrubute metal shavings around. The original problem on mine was
low/dirty oil and also high miles. This may have been your problem.
Rebuilding is not easy (or a lot of $$)if you dont know how and it
needs to be done right. but it is a good chance to customise the
motor, but I'd rather have a 5.0 swapped in it if it were mine
