My 3.8 has a rod bearing going out and I got a line on a wrecked 91 with a 3.8 Local boneyards say that 88 3.8 motors are all that will go into it. Will the 91 work or should I repair what I got?

what they said is half true half false. a 3.8 from the same year would drop right in "just" change the motor. v8's and other moters, including a newer model v6 which would need other things transplanted in too. Which is a pain sometimes. (or some $$$) I wouldn't repair it. I repaired a spun rod bearing out of my 85 chevy caprice and 20 miles later three more were gone. The bad ones distrubute metal shavings around. The original problem on mine was low/dirty oil and also high miles. This may have been your problem. Rebuilding is not easy (or a lot of $$)if you dont know how and it needs to be done right. but it is a good chance to customise the motor, but I'd rather have a 5.0 swapped in it if it were mine David
