Hi, I have a 1988 LTD Crown Victoria LX, which came out of the Local police department. (Don't think it is police as it does not have the P71 Vin) The engine had been rebuilt and the tranny about 2500 km before i got it. It has recently developed a very bad exhaust smell, especially under hard acceleration. I took it to the local exhaust shop and they found no leaks... There is also a very pronounced stumble when the car runs at idle when you first start it. After some time on the highway the stumble goes away. Does any one have any thoughts on this?? Thanks Mike Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada.

Hey whats up? What does it smell like......rotten eggs? If so, its your cats(convertors) personally either way I would gut them. No body tests for emissions that the converters remove. They are prob clogged big time. Let me know more in detail and if you are willing to gut them...i will give you blow by blow!!! Dale verdin_m
