I am strongly considering buying this particular 92' crown vic with 83k miles. The car seems to be in great shape but there was one issue. When I first started it up a heard a loud whining noise. It went away after about five seconds. Later when I took it for a test drive, I noitces the whining noise briefly returned when I accelerated. Does anybody know what this is? Should I be worried?

Check the tensioner pulley. Mine was making the same noise, almost like a slight howl. -- Smokin' Dave http://www.SmokinDave.com

Thanks for your advice you guys. I am buying the car from a small independent dealership so I don't know if they will fix it for me. If the problem turns out to be what you say, is this a major problem and will it be expensive to fix? I think I might purchase the car tomorrow anyway b/c I have heard such good things about the Crown VIc. Thanks again.
