Just about any 5.0 mustang parts will fit your thunderbird. The main thing that I know of that won't fit are headers. Mustang headers won't clear the thunderbird steering column.

Kenny

Mike I just bought my intake lastnight. After alot of looking and pricinging and comparing(cool air, plastic, alimum, ect) Well you get the idea I ended up with an RS Akimoto cool air intake for 229.99 . Seemed like the only way for me to go but you may be difrent. Basically the only ppl that make intakes for probes are Akimot, Ice-man , and Weapon-R. Oh and I just bought plugs too. I went with BOSH plantinum +4 plugs. Putting them in the morning, well actually I'm gettting the intake tomarrow too so if you want I can let you know what I think of both. Jer '96 PSE > This groups has come in handy in the past, so I figured you guys would know > the answer to this one. I am looking for a few parts, a new intake, new > sparkplugs and new sparkplug wires. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks > > -Mike >

Jer, that would be great if you could let me know what you thought of the installation of those pieces. I heard though that the Bosch Platinum plugs melt sometimes though. But that is not a definent thing. But if you would let me know how those things turned out, that would be great. -Mike

Hey Jer is here a suggestion on my RS akimoto I rap up it up with header rap to keep engine heat off the metal intake so that it would stay alot cooler and I paid around $20 for the intake and I am sure this route will stay cooler then any Ice Man.

Mike, Hey I'll you know as soon as I get em in. I need to find someone with the right plug wrench. I've been so busy with the intake and exzughst (sounds like a race car now) that I haven't had time for the plugs. Does anyone know how to drain and fill the trany????

That's what I was planning on doing I just don't know if I can bring my self to tape up that pretty polished peice of metal undrer my. Have you ever taken the tape off and if so did it leave the intake all goooie?? And did you notice a diffrence from taped and not taped? Jer '96 PSE

I was planning to use the same wrap on my headers then a guy warned me that the exhaust tape draws and holds moisture and will cause them to slowly rust. I dont know if thats true because headers get so hot but anything is possible. But a company called Thermotec (I think) makes a heat deflecting sleeve that keeps the intake pipe cool and even better it can be removed when it rains or for show. Maybe even possible to modify it with velcro for easy on/off capability. You can find it Summit racing catalogs, thats where i saw it. Antonio 95' base

Forget looks, I made mine outta pvc, looks like the underside of a toilet... I also wrapped with intake wrap, non sticky. Don't worry it's under your hood, as long as you don't take your probe to a car show no one will know and it'll definately be worth the performance gains no matter how small. Just like pennies a hp saved here and there adds up. Will Hauser

Jer I was just wondering where you found the intake at? I have looked online for places that sell Probe parts, but most are for the GT not for the IL4. I believe you said yours was a Akitmoto? I was just wondering so I can start to shop around for these pieces. Do the manufacturers have a web site? Thanks for any info -Mike

Mike, I found it a small speed shop by my house. They ordered it out of the keystone catolog. Basically (from what I've seen) if it says it's for a mazda mx6 it works for your 2.0 probe. Ice-man makes an intake(I wouldn't use it) , akimoto also makes one and I think hot-shot does. Akimoto doesn't have a web page to my knowledge(At least not one I could find). Ice-man has one at www.ice-man.com. Hope this helps.(I love the akimoto one I think it's worth the money). Jer '96 PSE > Jer I was just wondering where you found the intake at? Antonio, Do you know if this company has a web page or any place online to check out this "sleeve". Thanks Jer'96 PSE > I was planning to use the same wrap on my headers then a guy warned me > that the exhaust tape draws and holds moisture and will cause them to > slowly rust.
