Hi Chelly,

I don't don't know how this might work on the
ZX3 but my experience with the Tornado, was not
a good one...I saw no difference at all when
I placed that "expensive cookie cutter" in my
air intake hose on my 96 Caddy Deville with
the Northstar engine...just a waste of $60.

I really dont know what kind of performance you will get from adding a $60 peice of stamped aluminum. There are far better and less expensive ways to get better performance and mileage from your stock air box.

That is why I am asking for suggestions and feedback.
I'm looking for some info on improving the airflow and performance without having to alter anything on my stock engine. I don't have my own garage and I'm not as handy as I'd like to be with the newer engines (anything after '85 LOL!) and I don't have gobs of money to spend all at once to hire someone to do it...not to mention someone I'd trust to do it.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Also...my 2002 manual does stipulate specific after-market modification procedures on some parts and who can work on them.

~Chelly

I reconfigured my air intake using the stock airbox and got out for under $50. I think it works better than the "cone" type intakes you see for $150. I replaced the stock motorcraft airfilter with a K&N (about $30). I also replaced the factory air ducting with a 3" hose than I ran to the bottom front grill (just inside the fogs). That way your engine can "breath" air from the front of the engine instead of on top or behind it where the air is much warmer. Its pretty much the same concept as the "iceman" intake but without all the bends in the ducting. If you are interested let me know and I'll send you pictures so you can see what Im talking about.
