I was rebuilding a 2002 Escape that suffered a fender to fender collision where the airbages deployed.

I have rebuilt everything and replaced the airbags, but I need more information on the Restraint Control Module (or airbag module) that controls when the airbags should be deployed.

I don't really know exactly where the unit is installed in the car nor exactly what needs to be done to reset or replace it. I also have not connected the new airbags since I don't know what may happen if the module is not reset or replaced prior to doing making the connection. I certainly would not want them to deploy after I reconnect the battery cables.

Can anyone supply me with this information, there seems to be little information on the subject, and what I have read is contradictory.
