Anybody have any info on what to do when changing your alternator on a 99 ford contour. I got as far as one bolt out and the other half out with one end hitting the steel sidewall which cannot be removed. There must be a trick to this for a do-it-yourselfer. Any help out there?

My alternator needed to be changed too. After looking into where and how to change it I decided to let Pep Boys do it. And am I ever glad. They took about 3 hrs on a hoist to do it and labor was about $120 THis is hard to get at. Pep Boys had the best price for the Alternator as I checked around. My car is a V-6 not sure what yours is.
