I was wondering if anyone has upgraded their alternator??? My audio system is putting a sever strain on my charging system and I was wanting to correct this. I have no wishes or room to put an extra battery in the rear and I know there are a few companies that make after market high out-put alternators... was looking at Ohio Generator and The Mechanical Man. Anyone have any expereice with either of these companies or any other suggestions? The fuses on my amplifiers add up to 160amps so would I need an alt. that size or one that's slightly larger to be able to run the cars excerises? Well thanks for any help you can give... Your best bet would be to add an extra battery in the hatch. I did this with my Orion 250 HCCA and had great success. No light flicker even at full volume. This would also be the cheapest route. I don't think anyone makes an upgraded alt. but you could check your local alternator/generator place and see if you could get it rewound. I got a local place that would do it for $150 but I couldn't see spending that much. I just got a used Stinger battery and ran it in series with the one under the hood. This kept the system at 12 volts but like 1600 amps. The cost was under $50 for the battery and hold downs. HTH, Kevin 95 Probe SE 5spd (some mods:)) http://www.crosswinds.net/~probesvt

I had the same problem, so I put an 1.5 fad cap and it seems to work. Matt Knudsen Manassas, Va. 93 Base

When I went to the DC dyno they had a 2.0L turbo and it was on its second kit. The first kit was from Knight and the guys at EIP said it was not the best setup. So they made one for this guy. The first thing they did was replace the pistons and connecting rods and then made a turbo kit for the car. They said the turbo was pushing 12psi and it dynoed at 260hp at the wheels. But they said the car could haddle about 24psi and that it should dyno at around 600hp at the wheels. Just my two cents. Matt Knudsen Manassas, Va. 93 Base
