Is the column-mounted ignition switch on a 95 xlt user-replaceable? Yesterday, I stopped for groceries, and when I came out, it cranked like mad, but wouldn't start. Thought I was about to get to exercise my AAA card. Just by chance, I turned the key backward to the acc position, then forward, and it started right up, same as always. After 146K, mechanical things like this seem to be wearing, but small repairs are a lot better than 30K of new payments. Regards, Don

Don, Your having a bad week this week aren't you... Yes and no to the ignition switch. I haven't, but I've heard that they are. The keys now have a link from the actual switch to a switch (ignition) box. You may be able remove the cover and check the links and inspect the box. First call your dealer and see if there was a recall. I remember a few models of fords having the key switch recall. I have a ranger that I have to repair. They key and the shroud are not working together.   CR
