I can't believe all this praise for the Contour.I think the Contour must be to cars what this $10.00 webtv is to the internet ( should be ten bucks ).
And the local Ford dealership is just as bad or worse than the car. They just do not care about the customers.I could NOT believe it after we got it back the last time.I don't know what they did to it but it's loud now where as before they got ahold of it it was NOT.It tookso long to finally get the "repaired" Contour back that my husband did not want to send it back again. This is incredible, isn't it?
Several days ago we noticed the back lights or tail-lights would not go off. They said to bring it the next morning. We went there and the man said to bring it the NEXT morning. My husband was on the ball this time and called the place back and asked ( another person, that is) if they even had the required part needed. No,but if he ordered it,it should arrive up in the day on the next day.In other words, the man said to bring it the next day but he hadn't even bothered to order the part.It would probably sit there a day or two (or more, going by their record) before he ordered it.
Besides the noise ours makes that it didn't make before they "fixed" it,I think maybe someone got into the car while it was there and they tore-up the carpet in the back.Maybe this is hard for most to believe, but we keep the car locked-up most of the time.I can't remember when we noticed how it was kind of ripped-up but it happened and someone did it! A few times I had kids as passengers but I don't think they did it.The Ford dealer said they do not lock the cars up while they are there.I think that is where the damage occured.
They'll also say they don't have a car to loan out while they're fixing yours but this isn't always true. We've then went to someone else there and gotten a car.
I don't think all FORD dealers are this sorry or Ford wouldn't still be on the market!!

I'd DEFINATLY recommend trying another dealer, believe me there are good ones out there but you have to look, I have had all good experiences with my dealer. As far as the Tour not being a good car, I researched cars for 2 years before buying mine and can honestly tell you there is not a better car out there for under $20k. It handles EXTREMELY well and is pretty quick in a straight line with the V6 and 5 spd. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything. Sure it may have its quirks, but what car doesn't? Do you have a 95? That was the first year for the Tour in the US and generaly there are more problems for cars in there first year. Anyway, sorry to hear about your problems and if you need any advice please feel free to ask, I'm sure anyone on this list would be glad to help, also try www.contour.org for more help.

I am a little late on this. But I would like to agree with Joe on this one. The dealer you are dealing with probably isn't even BLUE OVAL CERTIFIED. Yes it is possible. Try another dealer and see what happens.

Now about the car. Hey some people don't like it, but I personally love my car. And yes there have been a few problems with it but I bought it used and the previous owner abused it. So I have to pay for his mistakes now. But its worth it! My husband wants his own Contour now, and is the Moderator for the Northern California Contour.ORG

I am very sorry to hear of your bad luck :(
