Ok, this poses another question... I have yet to figure out how to unlock the back hatch successfully with they key... note this key is most likely not the original since the truck was repo'd from it's last owner and I can only imagine while it was "being taken" they screwed the internal mechanism to the drives door lock as well...which from what I'm told can cost between $78 and $200 to fix at the dealer, depending on what is actually wrong with it... Positive... (knocking on wood) it starts everytime, cleanly and quickly...and runs well. I read in the PDF version of the manual (which hey the Ford site isn't the easiest thing to manipulate through...) that the compressor runs basically all the time... which if this is true, explains why I couldn't figure out why it sounded like the A/C was on all the time... Anyone know why they did this?

The compressor isn't on all the time. it only comes on when the HVAC (Heating, ventilation, air conditioning) control is moved to any position other than OFF. In non-A/C modes, the air conditioner cycles on and off every 30 seconds or so to reduce humidity of the incoming air. In defog, the A/C is running mostly full-time to take out as much moisture from the air as possible. You can observe this by moving the HVAC control to any mode other than A/C or defog, then lift the hood and watch the center hub of the compressor. You'll hear the electromagnetic clutch click on and off and the center hub can be seen spinning (meaning the compressor is on) when the clutch is engaged. The hub stops spinning when the clutch releases. Orca _)\_
