My battery went on my 2000 zx3 and i am not sure why and the guy at ford didn't know much either. He thought it was because of the neon lights inside of the car, maybe because thats just what he saw. then i told him i had blue xeon head lights and fog lights and then he thought it was that. i told him i had an amp with my subs, so that could be a possibility also. he said the positive wire burned and bubbled on the battery. i am going to take out the Xeon head lights and fog lights because thats what he said to do. I have a cap with my amp and sub but i want to kno if anyone else with a amp and sub have the same problems and what can i do to keep the amp and subs and keep the batt. or the alt. from going? what does it sound like? any Diagnosis? and suggestions? i don't wanna replace the batt. again or kill the alt. What do ya think?

Your battery probably went dead because there was a constant drain on the battery. Meaning that something hooked up to it such as neon lights was constantly draining power from the battery due to improper wiring of the lights or the switch to them. I would have someone knowledgable in this area check the wiring of all your accessories when you get a new battery. I do not belive your head lights, fog lights, or sound system are the culprit. It is most likely the neon lights but it is also possible one of the other things are improperly wired as well. Have all your wiring checked out. Including any switches and grounds. Have fun, Forest.

I CAN TELL YOU ITS DEF NOT THE HEADLIGHTS. OR THE FOG LIGHTS...THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF IS YOU NEED A BIGGER ALT.. IF YOU HAVE THE NEON LIGHTS, AND AN AMP.. YOUR LUCKY YOUR ALTERNATOR DID NOT GO..

I have a Focus ZX3 hatchback. You may need a bigger fuse to handle all the power....So u can distribute your electricity properly. I have two 12 inch subs and a 800 watt amp and I have not had any problems with my car. You may need to get your system hooked up to where your amp turns off when u turn off the vehicle. That may be your main problem. Check to see if your amp turns off when your car is turned off

until recently I have had no problems with my battery. But last week i was changing my oil and lifted up the battery cover to discover about a 2 inch thick layer of corrosion on the neg terminal and leakage from the two top caps. I have 2 12inch sony xplod subs and a 950w sony xplod amp and they have not caused a problem so far. I think that the battery may have just lived its full life. It is 2 1/2 yrs old. Anyway, have fun, bye. -forest w walker
