Greetings:
I have a 1993 Ford Explorer that I just picked up. It is in excellent condition! However, after a few minor adjustments and tuneup, oil change etc, I encountered a problem with the charging system. The battery light will not go out! I replaced both battery cables (Napa Auto Parts OEM), 2 different alternators, 2 different batteries, and still it stays lit! The voltmeter is low, nearer to te "8" marker, and when load is placed on it, it drops lower! Whenever I jump start the truck, the voltmeter goes up to the middle. I believe the battery light even goes out! The tensioner/idler pulleys are good, as is the belt. The starter connections are tight too. Might it be my fender solenoid/relay, starter solenoid, on the starter, or still might it be a bad case of bad alternators??? Most ford products get resolved in this case with another alternator install. It is a 4.0 V6 with 150,000 original miles on it. Thanks in advance!
Best Regards
