Hello,

New forum member here. My 95 T/Bird has apprx 90 thousand miles on it's
3.8 liter engine. I'm wondering should I change my timing belt yet, and want
to know how big a job it is. I'm not much of an engine mechanic. I don't want
to take it to my local Ford dealer. I'm considering the possibility of doing it
myself, or taking it to an independent repair shop.

Which online parts supplier has the best prices on genuine Motorcraft parts?

Thanks,

John

At 90 thousand miles I would reccomend changing the timing belt as well as other preventive maintenance items such as spark plugs and doing a full transmission service. The 3.8 V6 is a strong motor and will run almost forever if well maintained, however changing a timing belt is better left to an experienced mechanic. If the motor is not timed correctly it could cause serious damage internally. Which is gonna lead to more repairs and more money spent. Use a good mechanic (preferably one with ASE certification) or a private shop you can trust as a dealership would likely charge an arm and a leg. As far as the price on parts goes its best just to shop around and see what you can find.
