Mothers Car Care sells something called a Clay Bar Kit. It comes with a
little yellow square of clay, some "detailing spray," and some wax. The clay bar
is
used to strip off everything down to the clearcoat, including the tons of
layers of wax and all the crud sandwiched in between them. Wash the car first,
then use the clay bar, then wax it right away, as there will be nothing
protecting the finish after that. I used water instead of their "detailing
spray"
because I could just run the hose over the part I was claying (?) to make sure
it
was lubricated (If it isn't lubricated well it strips off the actual paint
too). The kit costs about $17, but I got away with a free bar from a damaged
kit.
Score. My 15-year old car is shining more than most of the new cars on the
road. <A HREF="http://www.mothers.com/">http://www.mothers.com/</A>
