Anyone else have old vehicle seats around the place? I have seats from an old Camaro in my den because they're so comfortable, and a triple seat from the back of a truck under a sun screen out back. Better than throwing them out!

Please don't give my husband ideas, he already has all sorts of junk cluttering up the house, but his obsession is trains rather than cars.

When I was a child my uncle made me a roundabout to play on in the garden. He welded two car seats to it, they must have come from a small car. It was an amazing roundabout and my brother and I had loads of fun with it.

They'd make a fabulous garden swing! Really comfortable.

It's the angle of old auto seats that I like. Mind you, the Camaro ones we have in the den aren't the easiest to get out of again from floor level!

Just after I had answered your question the other day, my daughter told me that her boyfriend had replaced his front car seats with leather ones (I think it's a man thing, he is always fiddling with his car). He wants to keep the original seats (just in case) so they have taken up residence in the hall, so when people come through the front door they have somewhere to sit if they can't manage the last few steps to the lounge!

Anyone know how expensive it is to replace your seat - driver's - for a more comfortable one?

My daughter's boyfriend has just replaced his front seats relatively cheaply. He bought them from a scrap yard, he told them what he was looking for and he had to wait for a few weeks until they tracked down something suitable. They look really good, I was amazed that you can get stuff like that from a scrap yard.

Only problem with second hand seats is that the seat can have lost it's support, particularly the driver's seat if it's seen heavy milage. A bit like mattresses, they take the shape of the user over a period of time, making them uncomfortable for someone else.

I am looking for something with a lot of support - the uber chair for me but I don't want to pay and arm and a leg. I'll shop around and check the junk yards too - thanks for the advice!

We have to get a new front seat for my husbands truck. But I don't foresee us using the one we take out in our home. I am sure he would though.

Lol, my husband would too. I guess I'd let him use it as seating in his work shop.
