what can anybody tell me about error code 628 excessive converter clutch slippage. The guy at the tranny shop said it's probably the torque convertor. If so what can I expect to pay? I just had the tranny replaced six months ago. Automatic probe's suck! Never buy one. -Rob

THIS ISN'T THE TYPE OF PROBE LOVERS THAT SHOULD BE. YOU BOUGHT A PROBE WHY? BECAUSE THEY HANDLE GREAT AND HAVE LOOKS TO MATCH. ALBITE, THEY AREN'T TO FAST BUT NOTHING A LITTLE MODS CAN'T TAKE CARE OF. IF YOU WANTED A SUPER FAST CAR, THEN YOU SHOULD OF SAVED YOU PENNIES AND BOUGHT AN RX7.... IF YOURE SICK OF GETTING SPANKED BY HONDAS OR THE SUCH, DEAL WITH IT REMEMBER THEY MAKE A LOT MORE SHIT FOR THEM. THE 2L, YEAH I KNOW 115HP NOT TOO IMPRESSIVE BUT REMEMBER THE CIVIC ONLY HAS 105, AND YOU LOOK LIKE A HOMO OR SOMEONE WHO JUST HAD MOMMY PAY FOR IT, OR BOTH. CIVICS ARE GROSS LOOKING. THEY TAKE A LOT JUST TO LOOK GOOD. THE PROBE HAS THE LOOKS,JUST NOT THE POWER WE ALL CRAVE. MY BUSINESS PARTNER HAS A 94 COROLLA. FOR WHAT HE'S DONE IT AIN'T TOO FAST BUT IT WILL SPANK A CIVIC OR TWO. HE CANT FIND SQUAT FOR IT, BUT HE STILL HAS IT AND WON'T BE GETTING RID OF IT FOR A LONG TIME. ALL I'M SAYING IS BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU GOT, SPORT IT AND DRIVE IT LIKE YOU LOVE IT. IF YOU WANT A GT, THEN SO BE IT. MY 93PSE CAN HANG WITH GT'S, GRANTED IF THE GT HAS SOME GOOD MODS I WILL BE BEAT. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'LL GO OUT AND BUY A GT. DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!! #1 mistake: Tranny Shop!!!! It may cost you more, but go to a dealership. Trans shops don't know jack about Probe trannys. I'm a service manager at a ford dealership and i can't even begin to tell you about all the fucked up probe trannys we get from trans shops!!!!!!!!! That code can mean a few things, A) your torque converter is shot. B)The torque converter soleinoid is shot, or C) whoever did your tranny, fucked something up when they installed it or you got a bum trans. TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER!!!!!!!!! nuff said! that was very well said... luckily i havn't had any experience with anything BUT a 5spd 93GT, and the clutch is all fucked, but i dont care, cause i still ran 15.60 bone stock which is better than half the hondas on the track... and now with a K&N intake, hotshot headers, a performance chip and greddy cat-backs, i run mid 14's... and thats able to play with mustangs... just think... spend 150 bucks on a 75 shot of nitrous... hello 13.s... then i can maybe have the honor to be beat by those blasted chevy's heheh... I LOVE MY 1969 NOVA SS....
