People install the Mark VIII converter because it is a 10" rather than a 11"
like the T-birds and there is less chance for the TC to balloon. If you are
serious about upgrading for horsepower I would go with a Precision industries
Torque COnverter, the Stallion is great, it is a bit on the pricey side, but is
well worth it. Try RPM outlet, I think they had the best price last time I
checked. Also would highly recommend bullit proofing your tranny as per Jerry's
specs, check the TCCOA website, Rienehart makes trannies to Jerry's specs and is
powering Mark VIII's with 450+ horse power without any failures, price is VERY
reasonable, $1595 plus $300 core charge. I figured it out adn it is not much
more expensive than buying the parts and having a build done by a local shop +
you get a shop that knows how to do the build doing it.
