I have just bought a 1993 Ranger whose dome light was missing the light bulb. After putting a new one, the light stays on all the time, regardless of whether the doors are open or closed. Any help will be hightly appreciated. Regards Red

Nicholas, Thanks for the feedback. You were right on the dot. It was the switch. Not knowing anything about the Ranger, and not having a manual will definitely lead me to some head scratching. And something else just sprung up: the transmission wouldn't shift gears until I checked the transm. fluid level and added a very small amount of transm. oil that was given to me by the former owner. Is it something that will occur often? Funny, but this reminds me of my old 1979 Volvo which needed every now and then some transm. oil in the carburetor (piston-needle) to run properly. Regards Red

one fix i found for that problem was to spray both door latches with wd-40, no more problems

I would even prefer a white lithium grease...it sustains longer than wd40. Make sure the door is aligned with the door jamb to, that'll eliminate a heep of issues. "Rev. James Wilson "

Tranny oil lasts longer than transmissions themselves:) Keep a watchfull eye on it for a 2 week period, if you don't recognize signifcant loss, don't over concern yourself with it, however if you'r going to have to toss a bottle in every other week or so, look for small droplets under where you park regularly....sometimes the small gaskets around the drain plug crack or don't seat right.

banana.gif I am so glad that I am not the only one having a problem with the dome light staying on. I just got my truck back today from the body shop only to find that the "door ajar" light is on and will not go off and the dome light will not go off as well when you shut off the truck. I was thinking that the two were related since maybe the truck thinks that the door is ajar and will not allow the dome light to go off. If this is the case......could someone tell me what to do in case the oiling of the doors does not work. Thank you very much.
