hello, I have a 95 Probe and was wondering if anyone has had problems with the door ding strips becoming filthy as car doors are knocked against it. My car is white and the door ding strips are practically black from all the times they were hit and paint scratched on them.. They seem to be plastic and I cannot figure out how I can clean them, has anyone had the same problem and been able toclean them well? Also, if anyone has removed them, please tell me how you did it! thank you evan

mine aren't black but dirty, i don't want to take them off cause then you get tons of dents, so anyone else know how to clean them?

For two years I have tried everything I could think of. Nothing worked, so I''m going to have replaced. But it is pretty expensive to do. Off the top of my head I can remember that the piece on the door cost $132. Times two, and you are up to $264 just the door pieces. But I can't stand to look at them any more! One side has faded and cracked and it looks real shitty. Matt 93 Base.......

i know this is sorta risky, but if you used paint thinner you might be able to lift the paint off the plastic door strip. The only problem is that it might hurt the plastic. Give me your opinions evan

I had the most luck with Simple Green. They're still not perfect though. It will strip your wax (so will dish soap), so you might think about doing it just before you wax your car. I also found that Simple Green was a much better tar remover than two other bug and tar products I had in my garage.
