I have a 1992 one ton Club Wagon, bought a couple of years ago and used exclusively for occasional towing. A month ago the exterior latch release for the passenger side rear door quit working. I could still open the door from inside. Then about two weeks later, the driver side rear door (interior) latch quit working. I can't open it at all. Then about a week later the battery was dead when I went to start it. It jumped just fine and started OK for 6-8 times during the next two days. Then after sitting for a couple of days, the alarm started going without explanation. I assumed that the alarm was malfunctioning and that was why the battery had been dead. (The vehicle is usually parked where the alarm could go for hours without bothering anyone too badly.) Since I didn't trust the alarm, I just didn't lock the doors for the next few days. It has started fine 4-5 times in the past two days, but this evening it would not start after being parked for just a few minutes. I hear nothing but a faint hum when I turn the key -- no solenoid clicks and no starter sounds. The headlights are bright, and do not dim when I turn the key. Jumping the battery had no effect. Each of these problems has one or more rational and independent explanations, but since the van has had few issues until this sudden string of problems, I want to believe (or imagine) that they are related. Can anyone more informed than I come up with a likely explanation? Thanks. Paul

Hi Paul, I have a 2000 one ton. I did have a bit of difficulty with the power locks similar to what you describe. Opened the doors, cleaned the contacts where the wires plug into the switches, haven't had a problem since. Then I had an occasion where the battery was run down, kids left the tv screen on, the battery had some juice left-but not enough to trigger the solenoids. Since it affects your alarm when it was low, have the battery checked out. Might be time for a new one. Or do you have the second battery option? I do. Jim Mattor
