'05 and later Escapes have 4" round driving lights recess-mounted very low in the front bumper. That location seems very susceptible to rocks, etc., and I've now replaced three lights in 82,000 miles. (BTW, this is easiest through the fender after removing the liner-not the front bumper as I heard one guy had done). I finally found a clear lens protector that fits perfectly over the raised protion of the driving light to protect it from further damage. It's not listed anywhere for the Escape, but the spec is for the Nissan Exterra. I found it on e-Bay. They're virtually invisible and so far, so good.
