Personally, I dont see why swapping the 2.0L for the 2.5L would require
changing *everything* in the front end. I dont know if there is a
difference
in the power steering pump of the two engines that would require a different
power steering rack, but I dont see why you would have to change much
after that: except perhaps different springs for the weight difference. Im
looking at a picture of the underside of a V6 Probe and a 4 cylinder 626
(I know, not a Probe, but mechanically and structurally the same), and this
is what I see: The lower A arms are the same, and so are the subframes
they connect to. The crossmember that supports the transmission is the
same (the lift point nub is a little different). The crossmember that has an
engine mount on it (might be a transmission mount, this crosses over the
transmission crossmember) is different in shape, so you probably would
need this for the new engine. Thats it! About the struts and springs, since
you are swapping an engine, you probably like performance so you would
likely have, or be installing at some time, better units in anyway. This is
all
from a picture, so of course you will want to look at your car and a GT to
find
all of the small details that need to be worked out. I dont think there are
a
ton of differences seeing how companies like to save money by being able
to easily fit different engine/transmission combinations in the same
chassis.
If you do it, let us know how it goes, but do the homework first. Good luck!
