I have a 1996 vic with the 4.6 and stock exhaust. If I changed to dual exhaust would there be a performance gain. Anyone tried it???? Dave Roxin

Well I did that to my 85 LTD CV and it has more rumble to it, really thats all it does is gives a rumble. It does wana cool off faster but there really no advantage to dual exhaust unless you want a rumble and a little bit cooler angine, oh ya headers work alot better for ya too, the only ones I can find are Borla stainless steel, that will help in performance and temperiature. But the only thing is it ranges from $500 - $1000. Thats next on my list of things to do............. right now #1 is getting new lifters cause mine are gone, it has 110,345 miles right now (yikes). I only put 27 miles on it so far, so far every thing is matching up....... Its starting to seem like a PI, I'll find that out when I take it to the drag strip (hehehe). But if you like to go with dual exhaust then go with it, it looks sweet, and if you put dual chrome pipes on the ends it'll give a RUMBLE! about 1' and 5.360" long pipe will give a nice rumble! But if your into silence............ go with a single pipe out the passenger side right behind the tire, that will be extremly soft and smooth. I have that on my 81 LTD CV and its smooth ever since I fixed a hole in the exhaust pipe. I hope this helped ya. Blue Steel

Hello members, I have just joined this forum and own a 1994 crown vic standard trim with 73k miles on it. I to want to convert to dual exhaust (with the header package). Can I buy the dual exhaust kit myself, or do I have to go to a muffler shop and have all new pipes made. WHen I do the exhaust upgrade, I also want to do something under the hood, WHat can I do for a bolt on change (chip, module etc???). Last question for today.....what can I do to upgrade the suspension. I live in southwest Florida and will be traveling on the rain-soaked highways. Thanks for welcoming me to the forum, trubino63@...

I had mine done at a muffler shope, but did afew things to cut costs. The H pipe you definatley want and the shope had a place in the twin cities that made the police ones with a computer pipe bender. Cost me 106.00 and it fit perfect. I kept the original exhaust muffler back and had just the drivers side put on new. Total cost was 225.00 vs over 300 just to have new muffler and tail pipe. It is stainless so no need to change it. I had a stock muffler put on the new side. Put in a k&n filter on the intake. If you need more performance get a chip from Dennis Reinhart in Texas. Not sure of web address but try his name on a search. Stay away from superchip as Hot Rod just did a test before and after with a super chip programer on a mustang 4.6 and the gain was 3 hp for a 400 dollar plus programer. Major rip off. I found the biggest performance gain was to do this for wot. Put you shift lever in low and hit the pedal. It will shift at 48 mph instead of 42 mph and that matches 2nd gear very well. That was good for 4/10 sec on o-60. Good luck
