i've found an 89' SC 5spd. with 124000 miles....price $1,700 with the head gasket replaced within the last month my only concern is that the supercharger was not replaced. i spoke to a FORD dealership service writer,who advised against high mileage supercharger units. saying that ford REPLACES not repairs the blowers,at a cost of around 2,000 please advise.

are you asking if the SC was replaced or repaired along with the head gaskets for $1700? If that is your question the answer is no, the dealer did nothing to the SC but remove it to replace the gasket, unless they told you different. the cost of replacing the gaskets is about right. the dealer replaced BOTH gaskets and checked the heads for cracks and warpage. they mave have also sent the heads to be milled if warped. without seeing the bill the above is what any reputable dealer would do. I don't know of any dealer that would replace just 1 head gasket. in my opinion $1700 is/was pretty cheap. reguarding the SC: I would leave it alone and buy a good quality air filter, till it craps out on you. just make sure the SC has a full supply of FORD SC FLUID...it will make a rattling-whine sound when it goes!! If you don't hear it...just keep an eye on your fluid and enjoy the ride!! J3
