The first problem, I've had for a while. The infamous click of doom. I had assumed it was the oil pump from what I've heard on this group, but it turned out to be the E.G.R. valve. Also while I was there, I got a new gas cap(free. It's a recall or something) Now I'm not embarassed to drive :) -Robin Hillman

The PCV Valve...Positive Crankcase Ventilation...........redirects blowby gases into the intake manifold to be burned in the engune. The EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation reduces oxides of nitrogen by recirculating exhaust gases back through the intake manifold to be burned in the combustion chamber. The PCV Valve is located on the Valve cover and the EGR valve is located by the throttle body. Josh >

i was pricing oil pumps yesterday at a maxda dealership and i found out that its just the plunger in the pump that goes bad which lets air into the oil gallery, and all you have to do is change the plunger which only costs like $15 or something. the technition i was talking to copied a service bulletin with a detailed procedure for me and everything, so i got hooked up. $15 compared to $250?here are the part numbers for everything you need for the job (you have to go to a mazda dealer to get them) oil pump plunger - JF0114115 exhaust manifold nuts - JE1040355 gasket, inlet tube - FS0114248 o-ring, stiffener to oil pump - 9954102204
