94 Ford Tbird engine starts but stops immediately. I have replaced IAC valve. I have cleaned the MAF sensor and the throttle body with proper cleaners. The scanner does not show any trouble codes. Any advice? liebe011.gif

I have the same problem with my 95 thunderbird. mine will only start and run briefly a a very high rpm if you keep your foot in it.
No codes, IAC working and throttle body cleaned out. AAGGHHHH!
lmk if you find a solution and i will do the same.

Brainstorming here.

Fuel flow.
Check the filter, Check the pump.

Remove the fuel system from the equation.

(did this on a saturn).. Fill a milk bottle with gas. Poke a hole in the lid and install a bit of plastic piping. I use air pipe from a fish tank.. Worked well.
Unhook the fuel feed under the hood and insert the pipe into it. Hang the bottle from somewhere so gravity is feeding gas down the pipe.
Start the engine.
As long as you dont rev the engine it should run with that small of a flow.

What else??.

Spark....
Check the coil, cap and plugs.

Power. Check and make sure the Battery is good and you have good power to the coil.

Uh, Air..
Check the air flow, in and out.
(in being filter back to the throttle body)
(out being headers to the exhaust tips)

Checked fuel pressure sits at 35 psi engine running goes to @ 40 when engine shut off

Has spark will run fine until it warms up. Something is happening when it goes from closed loop ( during warm up i think it runs in closed loop, competer running on preset parameters) to open loop ( when it gets warm and starts running with input from sensors)

I have taken off the throttle body and will examine the egr as I think that is the only place it could suddenly get such a big gulp of air to make the thing not run. I have a new one and will probably put it on but I am not a fan of just throwing parts at problems.

Dang thing is making me crazy!!!!!!!! I wish it would throw a code or something?????

Please anybody chime in with ideas - i have found lots of threads similar to this issue but no solutions...

thanks, Matt

My problem is the maf came to it last night in bed. Thanks
For getting me back to thinking basics! Air flow was problem
Engine would get rich and die. Well computer was hearing lots of air signal so
Up the fuel injection. So I thinks what tells computer
About air volume? MAF!!!
So this am I put the tb elbow and egr back on and ran till warm
Car goes from closed loop (warm up) to open loop, starts litening to sensors
And bam dies. Disconnect maf plug and presto back in closed loop and runs fine. Repeat
Several times- same thing. So now off to buy new 100$ maf.
Hope this helps.
