Actually yes I have. I just thought that maybe it was the wind or pull of the wheel. For me in 3rd gear around 40-45 it has 2 maybe 3 power surges that is felt in the wheel.

I have had that problem also, anyone know what we can do for this? Should we take it to the dealer or what? I have had such good luck out of mine.

I too have noticed the same problem. Going down the road at around 35mph - 45mph the car seems to surge. It happens in either 3rd or 4th gear. <br><br>I not long went to the store and noticed it happening quite a few times, so maybe its time to see my Local Ford Dealer (Charlie Thomas Ford - Houston, TX). Knowing my luck they'll say the same as a friend of mine did, "...its usually the driver..."<br><br>I'll see what comes about and i'll let you all know...<br><br>On another subject, did any of you guys get a Recall Notice?

I just bought a 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 and I haven't heard anything about a recall notice. What is it for? Additionally I have a automatic trans and I have noticed significant torque steer. However I found online that if you buy a couple performance parts for the suspension you can fix the problem almost immediately. Try focussport.com or focusperformance.com and check out what i'm talking about. Thanks

Ok, nobody flame me, but im new to the "performance" arena, and im not really in my Focus for performance... its just a great car all around...<br><br>I too have the 2000 ZX3, and im guessing, but torque steer is when i stomp on the gas and the car tends to want to go in a bunch of directions?<br><br>like it'll go left and then right before straight?

I think torque steer is mostly done in a rear-wheel drive car. It's when you mash the throttle to break the back wheels free. This allows a lot tighter turns than normally possible, that is, if you can keep the car in control. It's the art of drift, baby!

Torque steer is the tendancy of a front wheel car to exagerate the position of the steering wheel under heavy throttle.<br><br>i.e. if you are at a stop sign and you have the steering wheel a tad to the left, and you mash the throttle, the steering wheel will pull toward the left (i notice it in my focus all the time).<br><br>What you get in a rear wheel drive car when the rear tires break free is oversteer (throttle induced oversteer). I've done this plenty in my 5spd Ranger.

Actually torque steer in a front drive car is caused by the difference in length of the two front axles. When power is applied the axles twist just a bit also the longer one takes just that much longer to spin its wheel. As you go up and down in rpm the torque load changes, thats when it feels like it goes back the other way (the load evens out) then when you shift or whatever it goes back to the short axle. Thus your sawing at the wheel. well this may not be exact but itd fairly close. Enjoy your foci the way I do mine.. Its almost 2:30 am here so off I go
