"i see" said the blindman to the deaf man here in oregon, the department of environmental quality (DEQ,for short) look to see if u have mufflers and sticks the probes in the exhaust tips to take the emission readings, every 2 years. i have a 97 lx with the 4.6,i dont have the resonator in between the main cat and 2 rear mufflers. i bet that sounds wicked without the mufflers.

I feel the same way. What series Flowmaster do you have? I have the 40 series, one in two out. I have the 4.0 v-6 too. If anone wants to know what one sounds like I don't have a sound clip, but on my web site me and some buddies of mine have all of our illegal street racing videos and you can hear it on those. nothing beats a good flow master system... Bigger power gains come from better flow, they designed an after market kit that allows dual muff and pipe system. If you choose not to go that route, single exhaust cherry bombs are incredible, just a touch whinier. (higher pitch) GO FLOW MASTER:) "A.J."

Try arospeed, I have a full arospeed exhaust and it gives it a nice sound and good extra power. It adds about 5 to 10 horsepower . Also you can go with the Greddy exhaust, thats always good for Probes. Nakayam is a good quality exhaust, but I prefer Greddy and arospeed. Alex

Borla has a great sound. Everyone says they love it, doesn't sound like rice burning, more of a throaty tone. Nakayama sounds like a hive a bees.

Hey I am in the same situation. I hate the sound it is too low. I have an 89fpGL. She has the 2.2L and 120hp. I wanted to reduce the back pressure on the motor to increase my hp. I think I will feel a slight gain. Anyway about the muffler I thing your idea is good. I am going to put a glass pack on mine and for the money its worth a shot. If it doesnt work then I can put the old one back on. Well keep in touch and tell me how your doing.   Brandon 89fpGL

Thanks for the input.  I am not sure what I am going to do at this point.  I keep getting conflicting information about what I should do.  I am hoping that the group can give me a general consensus to help out.

Hey, yeah Pacesetter makes cat-backs for our cars, also try borla or Brospeed(same company) as for prices I'm not sure. If you want only mufflers theres a lot of companies that make universals that work well. Like 5zigen, Banzai, A'pexi, or Tsudo. I hope that helps. Oh and if you need URL's tell me. -Josh >

Yeah, send me some URLs would ya? Universal is cool and everything, I mean, I work at Advance Auto Parts, and I ordered quite a nice little Dynomax muffler, got a little discount ya know? The problem is those damn mounting brackets that Ford used, they're a pain. You can't order just the brakcet from anywhere, and you can't weld steel to aluminum, kind of crappy if you ask me. Any help would be appreciated, thanks man

Ben, If you look in Summit Catalogs or go to their website, they have a nice selection of exhaust systems. I'm ordering a Borla system for mine, lookin to spend about 2-300 bucks tops on it. Jesse 94' SE

Jesse, Where are you getting a Borla system for that amount? That can't be w/ installation. Is that just the muffler or what? I'd love to know. Jordan 94 Base Some stuff. http://www.plu.edu/~brooksjt/probe.html
