hey, i finally took my t-bird to the track for the first time this past friday and i ran a 15.3. which i think isn't that bad for my first time. but i know i can definitely beat that time. the car is pretty much stock, but my major problem (and the reason i didn't get a better time) was that upon take off and through 1st and 2nd gear, the wheels wouldn't stop hopping. becaue of the wheel hop, my rearview mirror fell off so that should give you a good idea of how bad it was. a damn VW Golf beat me cause i couldn't get the traction i wanted in 1st and 2nd gear, that pissed me off the most. the question is what can i get to remedy the situation. i was told to get traction bars, but i haven't found any for the independent rear. then i was told to get 50/50 shocks in the back, but i wanted to get some of your guy's opinions. let know what you think would help. thanks, dave

since i had my car i've only had the money to put a 9" cone on it. but more mods are on the way. i went to get my tires rotated the other day and was asking the mechanic why my speedo was off by almost 7 mph. He checked the gears and they're 3.55's. they aren't stock, so i figure the original owner changed em. other than that, i was running 94 octane. but i doubt that made a whole shitload of a difference. next up is a true dual w/ flowmasters, and whatever i need to get rid of this wheelhop. dave

The only change i can offer is go with a wider and softer compond rear tire setup. I currently have 225 60 r16 eagle GA tires and i have never had the wheel hop (the GA tire is a softer compound then a touring tire and they wont last as long as a touring) I am in the process of changing over to a 225 55 ZR16 cooper ZHP 01 front tire and a 245 55 ZR16 rear in the cooper ZHP 01. Talk about some nice tires. Good Luck and I hope a gave some good advice. Jack
