Just got a 1988 f-150 4x4 and it won't start. I think it's not getting fuel. I tried that little bleeder on the injector pipe and all i got was a trickle. the spark is good.a friend told me there are 3 fuel pumps on this thing. 1 in each tank and another along the frame. Any ideas where to start? I am going to chaange the pumps but would love to save the $200 dollars if i could... any help would be great.. Ed

You should be getting a good "spray" out of that nozzle on the motor for sure,do you even hear the pump on the frame make any noise when the key is switched on? i have 3 F150's 87,89&91 and they all make the same "whine" when the key is switched to the on position. If i remember correctly it run me about $80 for the frame pump & $150 for each tank pump on the 87.

I don't hear a thing...I guess i'll start with the frame pump and go from there...Auto zone has the frame pump for $75.00 and the tank pumps for $45.00

I thought of another thing you might want to check b4 pulling the pump, 1st would be the fuel pump shutoff switch on my 87 its located inside to the left of where the steering colum goes thru the firewall . Its just a small black box with a grey button sticking out of the top make sure its pushed in. You also have a fuelpump relay in the engine compartment it mounts onto the back of the air filter box with a few other relays , the only reason im mentioning the relay is because mine makes a click when the key is turned on. Those prices you have sound about right just make sure your wiring isnt burnt on the pump assembly , i found out mine was when i pulled it out of the tank and autozone wouldnt take the pump back since i opened the "hardware packs".
