When is a problem not a problem, but is? My Escape is running perfect after 50,000 kms. I took it in today for the Service 4 checkup which is the most comprehensive and most expensive service check. I told them I had no problems but mentioned that I could hear a faint whistle when I turn my steering wheel and commented that I really didn't think it was anything. I only mentioned it because I am coming closer to the first warranty period. It turns out that they have to change out my rack and pinion to get rid of the whistle. You can only hear it when things are really quiet. They will do the repair tomorrow. I guess it pays to mentioned even the slightest thing. My Escape runs great. Hmm is it a problem? I dropped my Escape off this morning and picked it up today. Steers exactly the same but no minor noise. They said what was making the noise was dry seals in the column. The only way to fis it was to change out the whole assembly. The mechanic tole me that he did the same thing for another Escape and several Ford Focuses. Something to check on before your warranty runs out. Goods news is that I was expecting to pay $350 to $400 Cdn for the service 4 based on what the dealer told me and what Janice experienced. It cost me a little under $250. Gary
