I've don't think you can turn on the foglights without turning on the headlights first.

I believe the fog lights are supplied with the ground circuit from the main head lamp switch. You would have to provide a seperate ground to the fog light switch. I'm going to do this mod at a later date and I'll post what I did. See ya.

There is a modification you can do to make your fog lights go on without the headlights. It is detailed here:

http://www.myfordfocus.com/forum/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=262<\ br>
Takes all of 10 minutes to do.

You can look underneath to check to see if the harness is there.. and it wasn't on mine. I didn't put them in as they are rather expensive.. so I opted for some Hellas that I mounted on either side of the license plate. Plus, I am going to add a brush guard, so I will be able to add another set of lights there. If you opt for adding a third party light, make sure you mount them so that they will not be in the way of the brush guard, if you add that in the future. I may be wrong about the harness, but I didn't see one, I guess it would be possible that they could have it tied up inside, so look carefully and let me know if I was wrong. Have fun.

greenbug1995, Evan on this site has installed some fog lights in the OEM slots. He has some experience with this and should respond to your post soon. Thanks for your post. Gary
