[indent]Ok I have a 99 F-250 4X4 and I replaced the front driver wheel hub a year and a half ago. It started making noise again the past few days so I looked at it and I think its going out again! I replaced it with a Timken bearing so is there a brand of bearing that anybody reccomends or should I replace the ball joints at the same time for extra stability? I dont want to do this every couple years so any help is greatly appreciated!

Your wheel race might be rough, make sure you knock the old one out and replace them with the new one that comes with the set- they only make bearing and race sets now for my car, but you might have to ask specially for your truck to get the race. I don't usually replace the race, but I don't drive until the bearing fails either, I replace them when the rollers rattle in the cage at annual greaseup brake adjust day. Jack up your front wheels one at a time and try to pry your tire right and left and up and down. On a 10x22.5 big truck tire, the wear limit for showing it to the shop foreman was about 1/2" play. It would be less on a smaller tire. More wear, show it to a pro or replace some stuff yourself and get it pro aligned. King pins, ball joints tie rod ends etc. Timken motor vehicle bearings are no longer made in Canton Oh, I believe, Autozxxx was selling them the last time I was in there and they are very price concious. I had a Made in China (came from the local lowball chain) wheel bearing go out on my 59 in 1 year about 8 years ago. My last couple of store brand wheel bearings have been made in Slovakia, those have been okay. Fafnir bearings made in Italy have been fine, but don't know if they still come from Italy.

Its a sealed bearing. I have to replace the whole hub to replace the bearings. And there is no grease fitting to grease it up. And I live in Texas and we dont have a Autosxxx. The race comes with it and not separately. And my tire does move because the bearing is out.

Autozxxx sells the cheapest of everything else, and they sell Timken bearings, nuff said? Another great old american name destroyed by the cost cutters. Was your bad bearing made in China, as was the bad one I had? The good Slovokian bearings I have been using on my 9" rear axle are sealed bearings with integral race. I am going on 7 years on one I used, so 7 years ago some factory in Slovakia knew how to make a bearing. O'brians operates in Texas, as does Napa, order in a bearing from one of them and see if you can see where it is made before you break the plastic inner liner. Their parts are not cheap, usually. They will usually let you open the box if you don't tear the tab. My experience is, made in Slovakia is better than made in China. Good luck, and check your front suspension after it is assembled to make sure there are not other problems that are loading the bearing unusually. I check camber with a 36" carpenter level against the edge of the tire (straight up and down unloaded is usually correct, check your manual) and I check toe in with chalk marks on an angle iron sitting on 4"x4" blocks in front of and in back of the front tire. Measure to the center of a siping line. 1/8" toe in is right for my car, check your manual for your truck. That is the chalk marks are 1/8" closer together in the front than in the back.
