Got my car serviced today and they flushed out the AC system which got rid of all that ikky bacteria which Im sure was making me ill ( runny nose sore throat)! They usually recommend this is done once a year and it is not covered under warranty. My car is 13months old so I thought this was odd when they said it would cost CAD70 to flush the AC system. I was willing to pay it when the service agent noticed the age and mileage and waived the fee! WOW! They also found a defect in the paintwork around the passenger side door handle and have offered to spray the door under warranty - thank god I chose bog- standard black paint so no possible mismatches. The oil change cost CAD37 and car was washed and vacuumed out when I picked it up. This is what I call fantastic service and anyone with a Ford who lives in Vancouver should visit Totem Ford Lincoln on SW Marine Drive for servicing. I commented to the service assistant that I was impressed with the car and the low cost of servcing and she laughingly said "ah dont worry we'll get you come your major service". Cost of major service CAD105.00, big deal! I love my car!!! 2001 Black ZX3 13000 km

I would like to understand how flushing out the A/C could eliminate the smell. I thought the A/C was a closed system? If this worked, does this imply a leak?

I believe the term "Flushing the AC system" is meant as flushing the air duct work. We do it here at my shop all the time. Mold, mildew and other not so nice smelling things grow inside the vent ducting and can be quite annoying and in some cases down right nasty smelling. > I would like to understand how flushing out the A/C could eliminate > the smell.
