Well, here's the deal. Anyone out there with good mechanic skills, please help me out on this one. Well what I have done to my car is an Akimoto intake. About a week or so after I put on the intake my check enging light comes on. Thats ok though, cause there's really nothing going on with my car thats wrong. Anyway...I go to the beach and while I'm gone my dad sets off my car alarm so he disconnects the battery while im gone for that week. I come back and turn on my car and the check engine light is gone. (thank God) Well that is just the background information. Here is the real problem: Whenever I am driving now (been like this for about a month and a half) I step on the gas hard, not floor it, but hard...and the rpm's go way up there. This is when I have my foot off the clutch, and am just cruising along. It's like this in every gear. It will rev way up, and then slowly drop back down and catch on to the rpm's its supposed to be cruising at. I don't have any problems driving it really, I just can't accelerate at all cause I slowly have to press the gas pedal. No idea whats wrong with it, but I need help. My first guess is the clutch. Anyone out there pleeease help me out. I am really sorry to make this email so long. Just need help bad. Thanks in advance to whomever responds. Justin

Justin, Definitely pull the codes on your CEL light. It might not seem like there's nothing wrong with your car but that CEL light is most likely telling you that there's something that's not letting your car run as efficient as it could. Regarding your RPM's getting higher than normal when accelerating...it definitely sounds like your friction pads on your clutch disc are almost worn out and slipping really bad. It's time for a new clutch. How much mileage do you already have on that clutch? The OEM clutches are known to go anywhere around 40k to 60k miles. -Lino Sacman, SCPOC '93 Rio-Red PSE, 5-spd

Sounds like the clutch just like everybody else has said before. A sure way to check is sit on a hill in first gear and try to just start moving. If the car requires fluctuating the gas and clutch just to get anywhere, it's the clutch. I just had mine replaced at 100k and it was about $450. Got the clutch from Napa. Not bad but probably could have found a better one. HD >

hey everyone, i had a hunch thats what it was so i went ahead and went and bought a Vitek from the bulk buy section at Probetal ask.com. $270 isnt bad for a performance clutch i think! Yeah, but tonight its gone. Just got back from a party and I couldnt get it going above forty mph. then, when i knew it was gone. i sat in my driveway, let go of the clutch parked, and it took like almost 5 seconds for the car to stall ought. Anyone know what the labor fee is gonna be to get my Vitek installed? thanks again...had a feeling it was the clutch ;) Justin

My 95 PSE does the same thing when I've been driving for a while. I've heard everything changing the manual trans. fluid to bad clutches. I've heard synthetic fluid helps. I haven't had the chance to change it. My car has been doing it a while but, only if I take off quickly. It is embarrassing to say the least. Terry 95PSE-MOD
