My '99 SE Countour was cruising down the interstate at 80 MPH and without warning, the transmission just died. There wasn't any indication that I had a problem, no slippage, no leaks, no unusual sounds, it just kind of "jerked" twice and died. I am crushed because I loved my Contour and had not had anything but a wonderful performance until this.

y tranny just died on me. I have a 95 contour and my experience sounds just like yours. I was<br>driving down the freeway then all of a sudden I felt a couple of jerks then I lost all power. I could still hear the engine revving but no movement. I parked my car off the freeway and went to get something to drink. When I came back and tried to push the car in reverse it would not let me. I tried putting the car in neutral, reverse, drive, all the gears and nothing would make the car move in reverse. I could not go forward because a wall was in front of me. Has this happen to you or anybody else. I think I am going to buy a new car and dump this one in the ocean.
