I ordered my ZX3 on April 30th. The dealer says it can take between 3 and 6 weeks. That's a pretty big swing.
How long has it taken others who have factory ordered their cars to recieve them?
I have an 800 mile round trip to make on the weekend of May 25th, and am wondering whether it would be realistic to expect the Focus to be in by then?
Even if it did come in, would a long trip like that be recommended with the car so fresh?
I am thinking either way I would be better off getting a rental.
Any opinions?

My dealer told me flat out that it would be six weeks, of course I am about 1000 miles south of you so that might make a difference. I am kind of curious to see when you get yours.

I went and spoke with my dealer today and they were able to give me a date... sort of. He said June 18, maybe earlier. June 18 would be 7 weeks. Which is pretty close to your(whirabomber) six. But, you are 1000 miles closer to Mexico than me.

I am not too trusting of my dealer either, but so far so good. I haven't had to deal with the finance person yet, I have a signed work order with price, perks, and everything, but only have verbal commitments to the 6.9% interest rate. I have already decided that I am willing to walk away from the $200 deposit if they dick around too much. But I am not willing to give up the $200 without making an absolutely obnoxious amount of noise.

It is hard to believe that a dealer would pass up the opportunity to sell a car. Even at invoice, they make at least 3% profit on the hold-back alone. All they have to do is put in the order and deliver the car, how tough can that be?
I know my sales person gets just a flat fee on the lower line cars, like the Focus and ZX2. Passing up easy honest money is just goofy.

Anyway, congrats on the Civic EX. It's a fine car.

My ZX3 was unloaded from the truck today. The sales guy called me and got to look at it in the prep area. I am going to pick it up tomorrow.

On the finance front, we just got a new Credit Union at my place of work, and I am to get a phone call tomorrow morning about my car loan application. Ford is offering a 6.9% loan, but also a $1000 rebate that is not available with the financing, so I want to get independently financed so I can get the $1000. The break even point (6.9% vs $1000) with the rebate is 10.3%. Anything lower than that is saved money.

I'll probably post on Saturday to tell all how things go.
